Yeah, I noticed the WTS is black and white. Funny thing is, my friends and family always said I thought in terms of black and white, even long before studying with the duds.
As doubts began to spring up about the duds, and after I left, I began to recognize those gray areas. After all, I knew a lot of good Christian people before I studied with the JWs. I knew there is no possible way that every single person involved in Christendom will be destroyed, while every single dub will be saved. There is just no way. I've seen too much good out of what they call Christendom for that to be true.

I have only studied for a couple of years, but I can definatly see the impact it's caused on my life. I think I'll get over it eventually though.

Giving the JWs one more chance.....
by ScoobySnax ini'm prompted to make a post on this subject following a previous post from stace..... i really think i need to go back to the meetings just one more time, i think it'd be a make or break scenario for me.
i reckon i'll either go back and become full time like i was before, or just slink away thinking "i can't live up to this anymore" i envy both witnesses who are full time, for their faithfulness, and those that have made a clean break, for their honesty to themselves, its sort of not right to be living in some sort of limbo state.. dithering dithering dithering, thats all i've done since i first got here i think, like some fart in a storm, posting fluffy stuff and avoiding the hard stuff.... i hear what some of you say, and it does irritate me as well to be just a hanger-on.
i don't think i'll ever be a hardcore anti-jw no more than i'll make circuit overseer, but well, i guess i need to go some way or the other.. and, well thats it really.

Makes me wonder how well the people at Brooklyn have it. I can imagine a bunch of old guys living a pretentious and luxurious lifestyle. After all, I even heard from dubs themselves that Bethel accomodations are quite good. Hmmm.....

Witness Costume Parties?
by shamus indoes anyone remember a watchtower saying that costume parties were inappropriate for christians?
i seem to remember that they were labeled in the "deamon" category, even if you had one and it had nothing to do with halloween.. is this true?
does anyone remember this crap?

Who the hell knows what Christ would have done? He seems to me to be warm and reasonable man. Hell. he used the power of the HS to produce wine for the wedding. Who would have believed that of him if it were not in scripture? The children clamored to sit on him. Yeah, a lot of Christian denominations don't seem to get this, not just JWs. Plus I tried to reason with JWs on some of their stringent rules, arguing that Jesus didn't view every law as black and white. This guy healed people on the Sabbath for crying out loud.

Halloween after leaving the JW's

no big deal, just costumes and trick or treating, but that was the 70's.
when i was 11 we stopped celebrating everything, and several years ago i left the jw's.

I agree with Gumby. As long as your motives are simply to have fun, then I don't see a problem. However, I think people who enjoy the holidays inadvertently pressure those who are uncomfortable celebrating them. I believe that people who don't want to participate, regardless of the reason, should have a right not to do so too.

Speaking of not smiling, did it strike anybody else as odd that the dubs seem to lack emotion? I mean, other churches seem more emotional, while the dubs are just study, study, study.
